A ray of sunshine at Raes on Wategos

Communicating the benefits of Byron Bay’s best hotel paradise? All in a day’s work really

Byron Bay. Turquoise seas, tropical rainforests and sand so fine it dimples like silk under your toes. It’s perfect. And Raes on Wategos is the perfect place to make the most of it. When the world-famous boutique acquired new owners and a stunning refurbishment from one of our favourite interior designers Tamsin Johnson they asked us to kick up, stretch out and communicate the experience. We were more than happy to oblige.

Raes has a history of magnificence that goes back to the 60s – legend has it Salvador Dalí designed the pool and garden – so Tamsin chose to add flourishes to the existing charm instead of doing a total overhaul. Think: minimalistic and unpretentious coastal approach that feels more like a home than a hotel, using natural fabrics and a monochrome muted palette, incorporating custom joinery, rattan woven furniture in one-off designs, Sisal rugs, obscure pieces and pops of greenery throughout the rooms and building.

Needless to say, it was a glorious job to work on and it wasn’t long before the revamped boutique hotel caught the attention of some key press outlets including Vogue Living, WISH Magazine, The Design Files, Broadsheet, Traveller.com.au, oh and Australia.com which has 3.1 million followers on Instagram.

“We were thrilled with the exposure and reach KDPO managed to achieve for our business following our recent refurbishment. We have seen a huge increase in reservations at our Hotel, Restaurant and Spa that can be directly attributed to our campaign with KDPO. They are incredibly professional and hardworking, and we look forward to working with them in the future”.

We’ll also be back up in August for some exciting updates to the hotel; hey we’re not complaining.
