Boozy, buffet and brunch are three words we can all get behind. Put them all together and they’re even better as Adam Wright-Smith is currently proving at Half Acre, his bar, eatery and events space in South Melbourne.
Adam used to live in New York City and spent many of his weekends at Soho House in Manhattan, taking advantage of their famed all-you-can-eat buffet brunches. On his return to Melbourne, he decided that it was time to spread the buffet brunch love here. He previewed Half Acre’s version of the all-you-can-eat buffet with two sold-out sessions during the recent Melbourne Food and Wine Festival and wowed the crowd with the likes of Challah French toast with berry compote, oven roasted figs with stracciatella di bufala and slow cooked salmon with smoked yoghurt and grilled asparagus. Yes, yes and yes.
The offering is genuinely bottomless with the buffet table, piled high with more than 10 separate dishes, replenished throughout the each weekend session.
And the boozy part? That comes in the form of DIY bar station that offers a different theme each month. Currently it’s all about citrus and vodka and in a month’s time it will be the place for all things Bloody Mary.
Half Acre’s beautifully restored, light-filled space is the perfect venue for a leisurely brunch, even more so when it represents sensational value at an all-inclusive $65 a head. All this and live music too.
It’s a good idea to book well ahead. Brunch is back, baby, and it’s bottomless!
Half Acre’s buffet brunches happen every Saturday and Sunday from 11:30am-2pm. Book here or on (03) 9999 1191.
