Cleo On The Roof

Like all proud, card-carrying Melburnians, the KDPO crew is very fond of a rooftop bar. So when stylish hotel HYDE Melbourne Place called about relaunching its refurbished rooftop venue Cleo, the brief landed squarely in our wheelhouse.

Formerly known as Mid Air, Cleo opened in December after a three-month refurbishment that softened the venue’s bold architecture with greenery, jarrah finishes and linen textures. The 12th-floor rooftop’s signature  circular voids remain, framing dazzling city views.

The food offer at Cleo received equal attention. Chef Jordan Clavaron (ex-Cutler & Co and Society) introduced a relaxed and generous eastern Mediterranean lean to the all-day menu. Think Turkish eggs for breakfast, harissa-spiked chicken shish tauok for dinner and mezze-like feasts during the week.

A summer music program with a roster of DJ talent like Edd Fisher, Lillian & Monique Tya and Baby G cemented Cleo’s position as a venue with real rhythm.

KDPO’s launch program was a great success, attracting coverage in Broadsheet, Sitchu, Urban List, Hospitality Magazine, delicious, The Age Good Food and ESCAPE Magazine.
