Two-Speed Italian Fun

Cremorne’s tallest building, the striking new Cubitt Place development, has the attention-grabbing venue to suit its grand designs.

But fun fact: it’s really two venues. Pronounced “Am-uh-tree-chay”, the ground floor café and rooftop bar are the latest passion project from hospitality heavyweight Dave Parker (San Telmo Group) and his partners at Williamstown favourite Sebastian, Kelly and Alex Brawn.

Street-level Caffe Amatrice was inspired by Milan’s train station and features and all-day menu of house made focaccia, boiled egg and smoked salmon on rye and pastas including the famous pasta all’amatriciana with tomato, guanciale and pecorino.

Up on the 10th-floor rooftop it’s all about indoor-outdoor dining, complete with gorgeous plantings in the wrap-around garden. Swing on up for oysters and elevated pasta (sorry!), and gorgeous snacks like the mini-Calabrian lasagne bites, plus excellent cocktails and Italian wines. And did we mention the amazing views?

Both spaces were designed by award-winning designer Brahman Perera (the visionary behind Hopper Joint, Entrecote and Henne) so Amatrice certainly has its groove on from morning to night, from ground floor to rooftop. We’ll see you there!
