Fanfare for the Classic Pub

The imposing Orrong Hotel has been an Armadale landmark for the past 150 years, and locals (some of them lucky members of the KDPO office) are thrilled it’s had a new lease on life since its reopening late last year under new owners Scott Connolly and Matt Vero.

These guys are true hospo pros who know how to treat a grand dame like the Orrong right. A sympathetic renovation has revealed the building’s true character (if only we had such great bone structure!) and resurrected this icon on the corner of Orrong Road and High Street in Armadale into what we’re happy to declare is one of the city’s best spots for a pot and a parma.

The KDPO team has been busy getting the word out about the Orrong’s honest and approachable pub food. That’s no difficult task thanks to head chef Phillip Latta (Attica, Pure South and Wolfe & Malone) and his menu of classic cheeseburgers, eggplant parmigiana, mussels in fragrant broth and a must-try range of steaks with all the trimmings.

Nightly specials, including an old school meat tray raffle on Thursdays, are giving plenty more reasons to pop in for a beer, a bite to eat or to catch top-flight sporting events on the screens. KDPO has garnered coverage for The Orrong Hotel across a range of key moments in 2022, including kicking off the footy season with a Friday night party, the lifting of the mask mandate in hospitality venues, Two-Up in the courtyard on Anzac Day, roundups of the best winter pubs and roasts, and loads more.

We’re looking forward to a big summer of sport at the Orrong, stretching all the way to the Australian Open. See you there.
