The KDPO office’s love of coffee is legendary – which makes it double the fun that one of our clients is Jack Murat, the pioneering Australian single origin coffee bean farmers changing the caffeine game.
Theirs is a unique, all-Australian story. The farm in Mareeba in Far North Queensland is on land positioned between rainforest and outback savannah, with volcanic-rich soil watered by monsoonal rains – in short, the ideal conditions for growing premium quality coffee beans.
July saw the KDPO team go directly to the source, making the trip up to the tropics to host a media famil at the plantation. We started with a coffee cupping session hosted by Jack Murat’s expert in-house coffee roaster, Nic Theodore, before venturing to the far corners of the farm to learn about how the family-owned Australian coffee is grown, farmed, roasted and distributed.
It won’t come as a surprise to hear that endless cups of premium, Australian grown coffee kept us buzzing along the way. Those gorgeous Jack Murat beans also proved perfect with a farmstead lunch and a slice of Grandma Murat’s homemade carrot cake. We came home with lasting memories, a full appreciation of this amazing Australian product, and were thrilled to see a features in Broadsheet, Good Food and WISH Magazine in The Australian.
